Music.
Tiffany Porter, also known by stage name Tiffany Hope, has been singing on stage, both as a soloist and part of groups, from the tender age of two. She has been songwriting her entire life also, her toddler debut being a song she could get a co-writing credit for, having merged different versions and creating an additional third from a little Sunday School tune. Music was, and always will be, her first love. She has worked in, with and for many groups, and has held such positions as choir director, vocals arranger and director, and harmony specialist, amongst several others. She has also worked as a studio recording artist as a backup vocalist for other artists, and demos for herself. In addition, she has assisted others with their song writing, and has written the music and produced the lyrics for a musical. She was an emergency fill-in keyboardist for a band once and had such a great time she aspired to be a better musician so she could do that for the rest of her life, multi-instrumentally if possible.
Travelling with the family band, doing acoustic gospel covers as a child and in secular covers live-MIDI combo band retro*P (read it backwards) in her late teenage years forged a close musical bond with her brother Zeke (Ezekiel) Jesse Porter, an excellent multi-instrumental musician, with whom she celebrated a growing local following with covers duo TeaZe in Australia before she followed an opportunity on the other side of the globe. She hopes to be able to bring him over some day so they can continue performing as a team.
The highlight of Tiffany’s career so far was when she performed at the Penang-Shanghai World Star Quest (the Eurovision of Asia) in 2008, after being discovered by one of the judges on the Spirit, Soul, Body show on a local radio radio station based in Western Sydney. She performed a power-ballad she wrote and a song her father, small-time music industry veteran Neil Porter, wrote for her powerful belting ability, in front of a 10,000-15,000 live audience, televised to millions across Asia. Unfortunately only the first 30 seconds was shown, and the foldback had been EQed to play the backing track in two different keys, which is why the other contestants that weren’t pre-selected to have backing dancers and win – who had competed in and were the best of their countries – all had shaky starts. She then went on to give the performance of a lifetime, and by reports was the only one who had the crowd roaring during her performance, her Dad joking that he “couldn’t tell whether it was from excitement or pain” from hitting the power note of the song. A GENEROUS REWARD IS OFFERED FOR THE FULL RECORDING OF THE SONG.
Tiffany can song-write to order. She can write in almost any style and for any occasion, whether for a company advertising jingle or a band that wants a great song to get ahead in the industry. She began a songwriting project in 2015 called the “Song a Day” song project where she wrote, recorded and videoed a song every single day, aiming to do one every day for a year, aiming for quantity over quality (especially given the hampered quality of her singing due to trying to sing under great duress due to a sadistic neighbour who lived upstairs). However, that project lasted all of a few weeks when the apartment she was living in was closed due to needing extensive renovations, causing her to end up in a surprise journey covering much of Australia. Now she is establishing herself in the art community she only occasionally uploads a new song to her YouTube channel, only going for a quick acapella selfie video due to time constraints, although may perhaps return to her song a day song project one day in the future.
Tiffany desires to become established enough in her creative practice to set up a permanent music studio, and enter into composing scores for film and TV one day in the future. As a child, she used to be able to compose orchestras in her head, and hopes she can tap into that once more as an adult in a more settled situation.
